The Kind of Community That Shows Up
I hoped the TimeBank would help me connect to Taos after moving here by getting me outside, meeting people, helping others, and tapping into others’ talents. I’ve done lots of outdoor projects for people, met interesting people outside of my normal circles, and had people share their skills with me that moved my own projects forward.
I enjoyed meeting so many people at the May potluck. I talked again with another member I’d worked with last fall at her house. Later that evening, I got a call from her. Her truck had died on the way home, and she was out on an unlit road alone. I went out and found her. A friend of hers was also there, and we brainstormed and dealt with the dead truck.
The TimeBank is a group where you can meet people you might need to call at 9:00 p.m. on a Sunday night in the middle of nowhere, and they will show up and help you out. No appointment needed.
