Earning Hours, Finding Unexpected Connections

I’m so grateful for the Taos TimeBank! As I’m finding my way back into the Taos community and exploring new ways to offer my services, the TimeBank has already opened up some wonderful and unexpected opportunities. I’ve been a massage therapist for almost 30 years in another state, and since I’m not planning to get licensed here in New Mexico, I’ve been looking for ways to build on my experience and offer other services. I was surprised and excited to discover that someone was offering an introduction to reflexology through the TimeBank! It’s something I can incorporate with my craniosacral and Family Constellation work for people going through transitions or who feel stuck, and I’m really looking forward to learning enough to begin offering it to our community. But it gets even better! I only had a couple of hours in my TimeBank account, so I needed to earn a few more hours. That led me to volunteer at a local farm I’d never visited before. What an unexpected gift! I met someone who feels like a kindred spirit, discovered a beautiful space where I can offer workshops, and found out we even share a connection with another mentor! All of this came from simply wanting to earn a few more hours toward a reflexology class I haven’t even taken yet! I feel like the return on my time has already been at least double what I would have received if I’d simply paid for the class. And honestly, I might never have made these wonderful connections otherwise. That’s what I love about the TimeBank. It’s not just about exchanging services. It’s about building relationships and community, discovering resources within our community, and opening doors we didn’t even know were there. I’m so thankful we have the Taos TimeBank, and I’d really love to see it continue and thrive. I wonder if something as simple as each of us contributing $5 a month could help sustain it for years to come? What a gift to our community! Thank you!
