From Volunteering to Garden Help
I joined the TimeBank at one of the first sign-ups at Amigos Locales. Through a dear friend, I learned about the TILT party and signed up to help set up and prepare food. It was such a great event. I met many new people and reconnected with many I had already done community service with, and I received my first credits there.
Next, I attended a bean and corn harvest at Los Tros Farm. I picked bunches of beans and blue corn and got a tour of their beautiful place afterward.
Once I had some credits, I called for help. One member showed up to help cut back overgrown sagebrush, repaired a window on my vintage trailer, and helped unload a truckload of manure onto my garden. Another member assisted me in rolling up my drip system in the garden and wheelbarrowed mulch to the garden and plants. Another member came with his truck, picked up a load of horse manure, delivered it to my house, and helped us unload it.
So much completed! Such good people. I’m so grateful to be part of this growing community.
My women’s group has just become an Anchor Organization, Healing Hearts Collective. I look forward to more interaction in this growing, vibrant community.
